So you've scanned the site and you're interested in learning to row or joining the team. Here's what to do.

Start with the Catawba Yacht Club Contact Us form, or email our rowing inbox. Rowing inquiries go straight to the Rowing Fleet Captain.

Come to Learn to Row
Our once-a-year spring class is the way in. Get on the interest list for the next one — you'll learn to row, meet the crew and get to know potential sponsors before you apply.

Bring a USRowing waiver
Print, fill out and bring the waiver with you the first time you row with us.

Apply for membership
The Rowing Fleet Captain vets and guides rowing applicants through the club's guest membership process — the same application every CYC member uses.

Signing up for rows

Club-organized rows launch Saturday and Sunday mornings, and members self-organize rows during the week. Every rower signs up in advance on the rowing schedule — organized or self-organized. It's a safety measure, and it lets the Rowing Fleet Captain plan the weekend schedule and set crews and boats.

The rowing schedule is members-only and isn't linked publicly. Current rowers get the link from the Rowing Fleet Captain when they join.

Team communications

Rowing times, regatta updates, weather cancellations and general announcements go out by email to the CYC rowers list. Weather calls come from the Rowing Fleet Captain — check your email before heading to the dock. Ask to be added to the list when you join. Members also stay in touch through the private CYC Sailors Facebook group.

Dues & fees

What membership costs

$800 / year

Catawba Yacht Club dues, billed annually. There is no separate rowing fee — dues cover full access to the club.

Invoiced in February

Invoices go out from the club Secretary at the start of the year, typically in February. Slips and lockers, if you have them, appear on the same annual invoice.

Regattas billed separately

The Rowing Fleet Captain emails the crew a per-person cost breakdown for each regatta the club enters.

How to pay

Annual dues are paid by check or Zelle to the club Treasurer — payment details come with your invoice. Regatta entry costs are collected the same way by the Rowing Fleet Captain.

Rowing membership is Catawba Yacht Club membership: one club, one application, one process. Start with the club's Contact Us form, then see the membership details on the main club site.
